ANNA PAVLOVA and HOTEL DES INDES
Anna Pavlova, the Dying Swan and Hotel Des Indes are inextricably linked.
The Dying Swan was created for Pavlova by Michael Fokine almost 100 years ago, it marked Pavlova’s rise to fame. She danced the solo all over the world. In 1931 Pavlova started her final tour and she would dance the solo in The Hague, but during the long train journey to the Netherlands she contracted pneumonia.
“Bring me my swan costume” were her last words before she died at Hotel Des Indes on 23 January 1931.
